THE FAIRY TALE CHARACTERS

MOOMIN

At Funnys Äventyr you can visit our friends in the Moominvalley! Cross the small bridge over the stream and pass The Groke who is lurking at the entrance. If it gets too scary, you can take a shortcut straight into the Moominvalley where the big blue Moominhouse is waiting.

Cook in the kitchen, play in the living room or walk up to the bedroom on the second floor and see the whole valley from the window. Take the slide down the vaccumer, or maybe visit the scary tree if you dare?

If you brought a stuffed animal, it can ride the merry-go-round. Before waving goodbye to the Moomintrolls take a short fishing trip by the stream and watch the sunset.

PETTSON & FINDUS

"Old farmer Pettson has a cat named Findus and they live together in a small country house among fields, meadows and forests. They also has some chickens and sometimes a neighbor or two joins them. Findus wants to be with Pettson almost all the time, and of course he gets to do that. It is not the biggest adventures that they come across. But they little ones that the old man or cat invents are as good.

At Funnys Äventyr you meet Pettson and Findus and can visit the house, carpentry shop, hen house and much more. If you look really closely you will also be able to see the small creatures “muckles” that pop up a little here and there. And don't forget to watch out for the bull in the pasture!"

SVEN NORDQVIST

"Sven Nordqvist was born in 1946 in Helsingborg and has been drawing and painting all his life. At a young age, he often drew inspiration from the magazine MAD with its special images. He studied as an architect at LTH and then worked professionally as such for a year and another year as a teacher at the School of Architecture in Lund.

Thereafter he freelanced as an advertising cartoonist and has also illustrated textbooks, fiction, posters and Christmas cards. During 1975-85 he also worked extensively with graphics.

He became a children's book writer and self-employed illustrator when he won the Book Publishing Company Opal's picture book competition in 1983 with Agaton Öman and the alphabet (Agaton Öman och alfabetet).

However, the big breakthrough came with the next book Pancakes for Findus (Pannkakstårtan), when for the first time we got to know the friend Pettson and his cat Findus. Both old and young have taken the old man and the cat to their heart."

ALFIE ATKINS

"Alfie Atkins is a regular guy who lives with his dad in a modern suburb - anywhere in the world. He is not big. Not so strong. And he doesn't like to fight either! He is happy and mischievous but can also be angry, jealous, afraid of ghosts - just like everyone else.

The stories about Alfie are about missing a friend, about mischief and ghost fear. They are also about fights and that Christmas is over... something that every child can recognize.

At Funnys Äventyr you meet Alfie Atkins and can play in his and Milla's hut or take a ride in his helicopter. You can even discover his home with kitchen and bedroom and maybe even bump into the monster under the bed.

Visit his classroom and join the train made of chairs. Go up to the high-rise building where he lives or down into the basement if you dare ... That and much more waits for you in Alfies world!"

GUNILLA BERGSTRÖM

"Gunilla Bergström was born in 1942 in Gothenburg. She graduated from the institution of Journalism in 1966 with a degree in Journalism. After graduating she worked for Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter in Stockholm.

Gunilla debuted to the writing scene in 1971 with her book “Mias pappa flyttar” (Rabén & Sjögren). 1972 the first book about Alfie Atkins was published, "Good Night, Alfie Atkins" (Swedish: "God natt Alfons Åberg”) (Rabén & Sjögren). Gunilla has also worked with scenography and puppetry. Gunilla Bergström is considered one of Swedens top author of picture books."

MEIA & HALVDAN VIKING

"The Viking era was very much like today. People laughed, cried, played and worked. But, of course, much was also different. Some believed in the old gods such as Tor, Oden and Freja, while others had found a new faith - Christianity. The adventure with Halvdan and Meia is about how you can win with smartness and friendships over kings, chieftains and bearers.

At Funnys Äventyr you get to meet a real Viking adventure in the world of Meia and Halvdans. Join the Vikings' own games or visit Völvan to predict your future! Take a walk along the palisade and scout out over the moat and then ride the slide down into the pig house.

Peek into the house where the chieftain and his family eats a grand dinner and then go to the smithy and try a tool. You can do that and much more in our Viking world."

MARTIN WIDMARK

I´m raised in Linköping and was very good at playing football - About as good as boys usually are at that age, to use a Masarinsk comparison. I moved to Stockholm in the early eighties with my Mia - my present wife.

I was educated as a middle school teacher and employed for ten years in Rinkeby and worked as an adult teacher for 8 years.

I’m often impressed and intrigued by what is different; food, language, people and music. Inspired by my son John's questions I wrote the picture book To catch a tiger (Att fånga en tiger) which was illustrated by Joakim Lindengren.

I write songs for children with badminton buddy Mats Sundin and is also a teaching aids author, with about thirty titles on my resume. Deeply, incurably and hopelessly in love with my children and my lovely wife.

ILLUSTRATOR: MATS VÄNEHEM

"The road of mine is Illustrator, archaeologist and author of fact books for children. Unlike many other children, I never stopped drawing and got my first drawing job at an illustration agency at the age of 23 and I have no higher artistic education than the one I acquired during my 30 years in the industry.

As a young man I went to the university instead and worked for 15 years as an archaeologist at Stockholm County Museum. It was a fantastic and varied workplace for a history geek like me. In parallel with the employment I became increasingly specialized in illustrating history. Since 2011 I work full time as an illustrator and today my assignments come from historical museums and book publishers around northern Europe.

When my children were young, I also began to illustrate children's books for authors such as Magnus Ljunggren eg the book series Knights School (Riddarskolan) and Martin Widmark the book series Halvdan viking. On my own I have also written and illustrated a couple of fact books for children about history and archeology."
